Paws and Pumpkins Rescue
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue for stray/feral cats with special needs and/or unique circumstances. Essentially, we take the cats that other shelters deem “unadoptable”. We believe they just need a safe place to live, patience, and a lot of love to become the sweetest adoptable kitties you’ve ever met.
All our cats live in our free roam cat lounge where they can play and socialize with guests. Come Visit Us to meet all the cats living at our lounge!
We believe that all cats, no matter their circumstances, deserve a chance at a long happy life and we’re here to give them that chance!

Emily (she/they)
Saturn passed away right before the rescue moved to Forest Grove but he will always be a part of the rescue.
Emily is the primary owner and operator of Paws and Pumpkins Rescue. They started this rescue in 2023 and it has been their full time job and passion since they started the rescue back in 2023.
Surprisingly, Emily didn’t grow up around cats. Their family and friends never had cats growing up so the first real experience Emily had with cats was when they volunteered at a local shelter in High School.
Emily started school at Western Oregon University in 2021 and adopted their first cat, Amber, during their second term there. They adopted their second cat, Casper, just a few short months later and his was what truly started their love for rescuing.
Emily was going to school full time at Western Oregon while holding a full time, 40hr/wk job in Central School District to help pay for school. On weekends, they were a vendor at local farmers markets and pop-up events where they sold their own artwork and candles. Emily quickly fell in love with the creative process and decided to quit their job in the school district and rent a retail shop to sell their artwork locally full time. With more physical space available, that looked like more room for cats! After a quick check with the property managers, they got permission to bring cats onto the retail property. Emily called around to a number of rescues to see if any of them would allow their gift shop to act as a foster location for their cats. None of the rescues agreed but it did yield a connection with an employee from one of the rescues. This employee had a stray cat that had tested positive for FIV that had been living in her backyard. Emily agreed to take this cat, Fred, in and house him at the gift shop. Fred was quickly adopted and the community had already gotten word that cat adoptions were taking place in this little gift shop. More requests started pouring in for strays that needed a place to go.
After a few months, Emily got Paws and Pumpkins Rescue registered as a 501c3 Nonprofit Rescue and the rest is history.
In Memory of Saturn
Saturn was the second ever cat to be rescued at Paws and Pumpkins Rescue. He came to the rescue as a euthanasia rescue from Lincoln City. He was locked in a kennel under a patio for years and hadn’t gotten proper care or love from people in a very long time. He was scheduled to be put down due to his age, the fact that he was blind and he had FIV. Emily went out to rescue him as soon as she heard about his situation. Saturn was only up for adoption for a very short time until he was adopted by Emily and he became the resident cat at the rescue. Saturn was well known and well loved by all the regulars at Paws and Pumpkins Rescue at the old Monmouth location.
Saturn unfortunately developed Chronic Kidney Disease about a year after he was adopted. About two years after he was adopted, the vet found a mass attached to most of his intestines and their professional opinion is that he was too fragile to survive surgery and recovery to remove the mass.
Saturn was put to rest, surrounded by people who loved him on 10/2/25 in the comfort of Emily’s lap.
Alex (Wobbles) Warren
Alex was a euthanasia rescue from Salem, OR.
Alex was born with a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), aka “Wobbly Cat Syndrome”. He has trouble balancing and walking due to this condition but he isn’t in any amount of pain or discomfort because of his condition.
Alex has in fact been known to play up his wobbles to get extra pets and treats from guests.
Alex is currently our “greeter”. He wobbles up to any new guest that enters the rescue and demands pets and love before he wobbles off to his bed for a nap (it’s exhausting work being this cute).
Favorite Treats: ALL THE TREATS!! Alex is VERY food motivated and LOVES all treats. We’ve yet to find a type of food Alex doesn’t like.
Favorite Toys: Alex loves catnip toys (YEOW bananas, specifically) and his feather wand.
